Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form of energy to another. There are 9 types pf energy sources that are used around the world, these are; solar, oil, coal, natural gas, wood, wind, water, nuclear and geothermal. While it may seem like there’s an awful lot of energy in the world it is able to run out. The main reason energy runs out is because there are so many people on earth, more than 7 billion to be exact. The Earth takes a lot of energy to run; energy is used for pretty much everything from mobile phones to factories. Most of the energy that is used burns fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas which drain the earth’s energy. A way we can stop this from happening and also saving money is by energy efficiency, by insulating walls, buying energy efficient appliances and most importantly switch it off when not in use.

Focus: Energy Use in the Northern Territory Households in the Northern Territory use mainly electricity (90.1%) to heat up their water. With some people opting to use solar electricity as well (42.3%) to heat up their water. This occurs because electricity is easily accessible and is a lot cheaper than installing and running solar electricity. However this is not the case for the heating and cooling of households, with only roughly 11% of people opting to heat and cool there households. The Northern territory has the highest usage of all states and territories, with only 1% of Northern Territory households opting out of using Air-conditioning.
